How to make faceless Reels: a step-by-step guide for beginners
You don't have to show your face to post short videos. Many accounts grow with text on screen, screen recordings, B-roll and a clear message. Here is a beginner-friendly process you can repeat every week.
Step 1: Pick one topic you can talk about every week
Choose something you know or are learning: budgeting, productivity apps, recipes, AI tools, fitness at home. A narrow topic helps people know why they should follow you.

Step 2: Write the hook first
The first 1–2 seconds decide whether people keep watching. Ask an AI tool: "Write 10 scroll-stopping hooks about [topic] for beginners." Pick one that makes a clear promise you can keep in the video.
- "Stop doing [mistake] if you want [result]."
- "3 free tools that save me hours on [task]."
- "If you're new to [topic], save this."
Step 3: Script 3–5 short scenes
Each scene is one idea with one line of on-screen text. Keep sentences under 10 words so people can read them in time.
Step 4: Find visuals without a camera
- Screen recordings of the app or website you're talking about.
- Stock B-roll from free libraries such as Pexels or the stock section in CapCut and Canva.
- Simple text slides in your brand colours.
Step 5: Edit in a free app
CapCut and Canva both let you add text, cut clips and export in 9:16. Add captions, keep each scene 2–4 seconds and end with a clear next step, such as "Save this" or "Comment KING for the free prompts".
Step 6: Post on a schedule and learn
Post 3–5 times a week at the same times. After two weeks, look at which videos people watched to the end and saved, then make more like those.
Common mistakes
- A slow start. Put the hook on screen in the first frame.
- Too much text per scene.
- Changing topic every day.
- Promising results you can't show.
