How to create and sell your first digital product
A digital product is something people download or access online: a PDF guide, a template, a checklist, a course. You build it once and can sell it many times, but it still needs a clear audience and steady promotion. Here is a simple path for your first one.
1. Choose one problem for one type of person
"A 30-day content calendar for new yoga teachers" is easier to sell than "a social media guide". The more specific, the easier it is to explain who it's for.

2. Check that people want it
- Look for repeated questions in comments, forums and groups.
- Search YouTube and Google for the problem and note what people ask.
- Post a free tip about it and see who saves or replies.
3. Build the smallest useful version
Aim for something you can finish in a weekend: 10–20 pages, one template or one checklist. You can improve it later based on feedback.
4. Price it simply
Small first products often sit between $9 and $29. Charge what feels fair for the time it saves, and avoid promising results you can't control.
5. Set up a store
Platforms like Gumroad, Payhip or Stan host your files, take payments and deliver downloads. Write a clear description: who it's for, what's inside and the refund policy.
6. Give something away first
A free mini-version, such as a short checklist, lets people try your style and join your email list. Many sales come from people who downloaded something free first.
7. Launch with content
Share tips from the product for 1–2 weeks, then announce it. Short videos, carousels and emails work well together.
8. Improve after launch
Ask buyers what helped and what was missing. Update the product and tell past buyers.
